Chinese smartphone Realme was initially a project within the popular Chinese brand Oppo. Some former Oppo employees resigned at the end of July 2018 and started their own Realme brand. In May 2018, The first Realme 1 came on the market. Oppo F7 Youth is the global version of the phone. In December 2017, Oppo F5 Youth was released which was also available in Bangladesh. Oppo F5 Youth was not available anymore in the Bangladeshi market in Oppo showrooms and dealer locations after Realme became an individual entity.
Behind the establishment of the brand the vision was to release exclusive smartphones to meet the demand of the youth of the current time. Especially those with a worldwide modern culture who are counting on their phone for several everyday tasks. From February 2019, in some online shops Realme phones started to arrive in the Bangladeshi market officially. However, no new phones were available after a few months. Then in February 2020, as a brand entity Realme officially entered Bangladesh. in Gazipur, their first factory was established which means for their products they won’t have the added import tax. for the consumers it will help them to offer more affordable prices compared to those brands that are still importing their products from abroad. On 13th March 2020, to start their official journey the company launched their two recent affordable smartphones Realme 5i and C2.
